ATTORNEY, FOUNDING/MANAGING PARTNER

Karem began her legal career in 1996 as a Legal Assistant at the Law Office of Adalsinda Lomangino, P.A. and focused on the area of Immigration Litigation. In 1997, she went back to school to complete her education, earning a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University. Karem attended St. Thomas University School of Law, achieving academic recognition in multiple semesters. After completing her Juris Doctor, Karem became a Hearing Officer for the State of Florida’s Unemployment Compensation Unit until 2003. In 2004, Karem was an Associate Attorney for Lataif & Associates, and focused her work on Immigration cases. Shortly after, she began to find that many of her cases encompassed aspects of Family Law, so she expanded her practice area to comprise Family Law. In 2007, Karem opened the Hadjez Law Firm. In 2009, Karem joined forces with Michaelle Gonzalez Paulson, Esq. (elected to the bench as a member of the judiciary in 2010) and together they created the Law Center of South Florida, P.A.

Karem is fluent in Spanish. She was born in Long Island, New York, after her ambitious parents emigrated to the United States from Chile, looking for adventure and new-found opportunities. When she was almost a year old, the family moved back to Chile, where they remained until Karem turned four years old. The family (by now of 4), returned to the United States, and made Miami their permanent home, residing there ever since. Karem’s family continues to thrive as business and franchise owners, always looking for their next big adventure. Karem is a mother and appreciates the journey that parenting brings. Her maternal instincts are what give her the driving force in her practice and in life.
